The tuning of the Mujuru family is known as Dambatsoko (the key of E). They also often use the G tuning. Dambatsoko tuning is very low. Therefore, there is sense of incongruity when combined with the sound of the B ♭ mbira. For example, it sounds entirely different songs like Nhemamusasa are played.
Also, the interval of the keys is quite short when compared to standard tuning. This resemblems a similar concept to the gamelan of Indonesia.
